Dear New Reader
Guess what?!? Pinky and the Geek made a person!
Yes, totally without planning this life miracle, two intelligent people managed to mess up our timing completely. I blame his sperm of super longevity and he says it was my early ovulation. Truth be told I think we agree we might have had an equal part in this.
We are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a normal family. But maybe that makes us more real? We are 2 people who really really love each other and while our situation is not the norm, I hope that while we share our journey it will show that even when things do not fit an accepted mold, they can be wonderful and weird and great, all of their own.
Geek and I are very different. We will both be sharing our thoughts, feelings and discoveries as we go through the next 36 weeks or so. Our differences, and the passion with which we both defend our individual points of view, should prove interesting. I have had to promise before we could start, that what is discussed on the blog, stays on the blog, and I promise to try be good… ( fingers crossed behind my back *wink* )
I have been told before that I am a very honest person, and that I am willing to talk about things that others might not want the world to know. Well, this will be no different. From the agonizing decision about keeping the baby, to my weird and wacky birth ideas, this blog is about telling it like it is. A window into our world and the new pinklet we are growing.
I am Pinky: a pink-haired mom of two from a very difficult previous relationship. I run an online natural baby company. Geek is always teasing me about being a hippy, and in a lot of ways I guess I am. I am an extrovert, in that I love, and need people around me. I do not need to be the center of attraction, and can be quite shy when I first meet people, but I hate being alone. To find out a lot more about me you can read the 101 things about me I wrote on my personal blog.
The Geek: He will not say nice things about himself so I am going to write this quickly and post it before he gets a chance to object. The geek has the nicest eyes ever, he is very handsome and loves me and my kids endlessly. He is very, very grumpy in the morning and addicted to coffee, something I can, sadly, not drink much of at the moment. He’s in IT, loves gadgets and all things geeky, and don’t forget music and F1. He is an introvert. Not to say he does not like people, or is social inept, it just means he needs alone-time to recharge now and again.
We are polar opposites in many ways, but we can talk and we both have a deep love of words, language and reading. We discuss meanings and origins of words, and will often Google or Wikipedia in the middle of a discussion to prove a point. We hope you enjoy our musings and blog posts, as we go along. I have no idea what you are in store for, time will tell, but you can be guaranteed of emotion, TMI, a little war or two between The Geek and I, and lots of laughs!

Pinky, thanks for the support you’ve given Nix :)
I’m so happy for you both. Strange thing: you were both “internet friends” before you were “real” friends, but there’s no sense that either of you is any less special in person- you are both wonderful people, and I’m sure this new experience (and child) will be blessed to have you both as parents. Proud to know you. S.
Congrats and may God bless your new journey
Congrats! I have bestowed you two with an award which you can read all about on my blog tomorrow, the 28th of July 2010. (South Africa Time)
Congrats!
Much love and all the best to you both.

You are not afraid to take on difficult subjects to blog, and that takes a lot of courage. I know you will keep in touch through Twitter. A baby is a real blessing and I know you will keep everyone in touch and let all your friends know how everything is going. You write beautifully and with compassion.
Wow great news another miracle child, I am sure this will bring much happiness
Huge congratulations to you both Sally. I look forward to following your journey.
Congratulations. This is a great way to document your journey.
