Henna Belly

Posted on 12. Feb, 2011 by pinky in Pinky

Last Saturday before the baby shower I went to have a henna/mehndi design done on Koos. Robyn kindly agreed to come with me and take some pictures. It was really relaxing and amazing to watch how quickly Chandra worked. She had an wonderful steady hand and was so friendly and kind. I would hight recommend anyone in Cape Town that wants henna done to give her a call. Chandra Magan 0727436642 6ondove@gmail.com

These pictures were just taken with my phone, I forgot the proper camera but they do show the process

She first cleaned it with lemon juice to make it henna last longer and remove the natural oils on the skin or any lotion that stop it sticking.

Just working from the picture she was able to do the whole design free hand.

Is it the done thing

to have a baby shower for a third baby? Well technically my third but The Geek’s first. Traditionally the guys are not involved in the whole baby shower thing.

I had one with Rachel, not a big surprise and no embarrassing games, but all just women, got some really useful gifts.

I did not have one with Caleb as it is not a custom in the UK at all. I did do a belly cast and henna belly with my sister and friend. Ex was uninvolved as always.

This time it feels different, I want to celebrate with my friendsĀ  more than it being about gifts. I want The Geek to be involved and included after all this is all new to him.

Our house is starting to look like a baby may be joining the ranks, Cazpi lent us a high chair, we have a pram, Bumbo, electric pump and monitors from Shelly, and #Koos even has a few clothes. My sister brought all the things my nephew out grew from the UK.

For our baby celebation I want to do a henna belly and have a braai celebrate this new family with our friends. Is it odd or rude if I organize this myself?
